Ryan Mallett has died, he was only 35 years old

The sports world and the National Football League in particular mourn the tragic death of Ryan Mallett, at only 35 years old. Mallett, according to official NFL channels, died of drowning off Gulf Shore Drive in Destin, Okaloosa County, Florida.

In his professional career, which saw him wear the jerseys of the New England Patriots, Houston Texans, and Baltimore Ravens between 2011 and 2017, Mallett collected 21 total appearances, eight of them as a starter. He had recently taken up coaching in minor tournaments.

The New England Patriots expressed their condolences with a message posted on their website, “The New England Patriots are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of former quarterback Ryan Mallett. Our thoughts are with his family, his former teammates and all those who are suffering from this tragedy.”
