Italy, Milena Bertolini not down despite heavy knockout
After the heavy 5-0 defeat at the hands of Sweden, Italy coach Milena Bertolini spoke at the microphones of “Rai Sport” to analyze her girls’ performance. “I simply told the girls to keep their heads up and focus on the positive things in this match. We managed to play 30 minutes of very good soccer, where we put Sweden in difficulty,” began the coach of the Azzurri.
“We know that Sweden is a strong team. We made mistakes on the loose balls, where they are very strong. After the first and second goals we didn’t have the strength and lucidity to stay in the game. We tried to take it back right away and we stretched. We have to try to be more calm when we get goals,” added the coach.
“This match does not nullify the work done so far, we have to believe in our qualities. We knew that the passage to the round would be decided at the last match and we have to win that one. To do that it will be necessary to restart from the positive things we have done. I believe in the qualities we have and if we continue on this path of play we can do it,” concluded Milena Bertolini ahead of the next match against South Africa scheduled for Wednesday, August 2.
