F1, penalty coming for Max Verstappen and Red Bull
Red Bull executive Helmut Marko himself admitted this in an interview, “Verstappen will have penalty, we will choose at which track.”
Red Bull executive Helmut Marko in an interview with Motorsport-total explained that both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will serve penalties for the power unit rotation decided by the Austrian team: “We will have to assess when to receive the penalty, choosing which circuit is the most suitable to recover positions.”
On the strength of Max Verstappen’s 63-point lead in the drivers’ standings, Red Bull can afford to receive penalties without any fuss, so as to save engines for the season finale: “We will choose a circuit where it is easy to overtake to serve the penalty. The world championship is not over, the lead is not a witness to how well the cars perform in the race. We will need between 10 and 12 wins.” The circuits of choice could be Spa-Francorchamps and Monza.
