Naples, Kim Min-jae reveals a backstory to the negotiations
Korean explains why he chose Napoli
Expectations are already high in Naples for Kim Min-jae, the impressive Korean defender whom the blue club bought from Fenerbahce in order to cope with Kalidou Koulibaly’s farewell to Chelsea.
Kim, in a press conference, explained the motivations behind his decision to accept Napoli’s court, also revealing a backstory: “There were other teams in the Italian league that wanted me,” he said, “But Napoli is Napoli.
On possible pressures related to the inevitable confrontation with Koulibaly: “Kalidou is an important footballer, of international caliber. I am not replacing him and no one can do that, but I will always give my best to get the best possible results. However, I feel the confrontation with him as a stimulus, no pressure.”
On the role models on Kim’s inspirations, he then explained, “If we talk about foreign defenders I say Sergio Ramos, if we move to Italy the names are many, I have a hard time choosing one: if I really have to name one, however, I say Fabio Cannavaro.”
