MLS, Toronto FC blocked by Lorenzo Insigne error
The Canadian team is second to last in the standings
Wasted opportunity for Toronto FC. The Canadian franchise did not go beyond 0-0 in the challenge with the New England Revolution. A missed penalty by Insignia was decisive. In the 80th minute, thanks to the intervention of the VAR, the former Napoli player had the chance to unlock the game from the penalty spot but had his conclusion neutralized from 11 meters by goalkeeper Petrovic (also crucial in the first half, again on Insigne).
For Toronto FC this was a tough misstep to digest. The Canadian franchise is, at present, second-last in the standings (Eastern Conference) with 23 points won in as many matches played.
