Lorenzo Musetti spies on Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini
“Thanks to them, I was in a cone of shadow that allowed me to work quietly.”
Lorenzo Musetti during an interview with Corriere della Sera talked about his relationship with Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini: “They were never envious of their victories, they pushed me to do more and better, to give myself a goal, not to settle.”
The Carrara tennis player explained that the very victories of the two have allowed him to work calmly, without pressure: “I have them to thank for coming first, for keeping me in a cone of shadow by allowing me to work calmly, and for involving me emotionally in their victories. And I think our example is doing the whole movement good: Zeppieri and Agamenone in the semifinals in Umag, Cobolli, Passaro, and young Nardi, who is coming along….”
On the win against Alcaraz: “How do you get to beat the world number 4? By evolving, growing, with a combination of work and luck. In my case it was a gradual path, however, I felt the bang was in the air. There had to be a first for me too: it came in Hamburg, with Alcaraz who off the court is also a friend, playing the best match of my career.”
