Euro 2024, Italy trembles in fourth tier
Italy to Euro 2024
The draw against Ukraine cast doubt on Italy's position in the preliminary round draw for Euro 2024. Despite guaranteed qualification, Croatia's victory moved the Azzurri into the fourth bracket and the possibility of an iron round è real.
The Balkan team is ranked third in Group G, but its position makes it a possible opponent for Italy in the group stage. Turkey, first in Group D, is è guaranteed the second bracket, while Denmark, Hungary and Austria are placed in the same bracket.
The draw, scheduled for Dec. 2 in Hamburg, will determine the preliminary rounds and may outline the path Italy will have to take to reach the final. With six brackets of teams, including those formed by the great powers of world soccer, each opponent will be of paramount importance.
Italy's future will depend on the fate of the draw, but the hope of a strong team determined to win will never be questioned.
The 24 national teams qualified for the competition will be assigned to six separate groups, with four teams per group. Germany, as the host country, will be placed in the first bracket, along with the best five firsts from their respective qualifying groups. The three teams that will qualify via playoffs and whose names will be revealed in March will be placed in the fourth bracket. The remaining five group winners and the runners-up will be placed in the second, third and fourth brackets, based on a ranking established after the qualifying phase, which will end on Tuesday.
These are the brackets:
Band 1: Germany, Portugal, France, Spain, Belgium, England
Band 2: Denmark, Hungary, Austria, Albania, Turkey, Romania
Band 3: Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Croatia
Band 4: Italy, Serbia, Switzerland, the three play-off winners
