Virtus Bologna Launches Challenge to Barcelona
On the eve of the difficult Euroleague home match against Barcelona, scheduled for Wednesday at the Virtus Segafredo Arena (2:00 p.m. ball at 8:30 p.m.), Virtus Bologna and its head coach, Luca Banchi, know that they will need a level performance to contend for the final success to what, after eleven days of the regular season, è the second force in the tournament.
"To face a team like Barcelona we will have to start from our game identity and from the awareness that we will need to oppose great physicality, aggressiveness and courage to contain an opponent so rich in talent,” said coach Banchi to the club’s official channels. “Barca is living a very positive moment and every element on the staff, including the new recruits, is providing an excellent performance.
" They have a style of play that has been consolidated over the years to which Coach Grimau, a former Blaugrana player, is giving further impetus – added the Vu nere coach -. Our task will be to make life difficult for them by putting on the court all the energy that the Virtus Segafredo Arena will be able to transmit to us, as well as the nerve, which is indispensable to challenge our opponents in a duel that we hope will be as hard-fought and balanced as possible".
Jordan Mickey also spoke at the match presentation: "Tomorrow we have a tough game ahead of us – said the 29-year-old -, we will be facing one of the best teams in the Euroleague so far. They are playing really well. From our side we will have to continue to improve our defense, go well in rebounding, ready to play a match with the right balance".
