Wrestling returns to Europe
WWE in Cardiff
30 years later, from August 31, 1992 to September 3, 2022. In between is a huge piece of WWE history. “Then, Now and Forever,” from SummerSlam to Clash at the Champions, from Wembley to Cardiff, Wales. The march towards the big event, scheduled for Saturday, September 3 at 7 p.m. Italian time, directly from Principality Stadium and visible on the WWE Network, continues. It will be an unforgettable kermesse, as it happened for the last Premium Live Event in Europe before this one, just SummerSlam 1992. The Ultimate Warrior vs Macho Man Randy Savage: two more Ultimate Champions challenged for the World Title. Match that was affected by interference from Ric Flair and Mr. Perfect and that Warrior won by count-out. The scene in which challenger Randy Savage-after the match ended-supports the champion all the way out of the arena remains etched in the mind, as Warrior was seriously injured in the leg.
The champions: an edition, that of SummerSlam 1992, that sold out Wembley Stadium, remaining in history as one of the most viewed of WWE’s Premium Live Events. From The Legion of Doom (Animal and Hawk) to Shawn Michaels (at the time accompanied by Sensational Sherri), via The Undertaker, who managed to beat Kamala in that event. Now it is the turn of Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns, who will compete in Cardiff for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, now in the hands of “The Head of the Table” for more than two years. It will be up to home idol McIntyre to get the crowd hot in WWE’s return to Europe at this level. 30 years after Ultimate Warrior and Bret Hart, the legend continues…
