Massimiliano Allegri, agent recalls 'no' to Real Madrid

Massimiliano Allegri, in 2021, was practically one step away from becoming coach of Real Madrid. When it came time to concretize the agreement between the Spanish capital club and the Livorno coach, however, two factors blocked the deal: to explain them, during an interview with the Spanish portal 'Relevo', was Giovanni Branchini, the current Juventus coach's attorney.

Branchini: "Family and Juve'

prevailed.

"We had agreed on everything, down to the smallest details,” Branchini admitted. In the end, although he was very sorry, he decided not to sign. For both sides it was a painful decision. Why did he choose to stay in Italy? There were two important issues: the family one and the one related to the possible return to Juventus. He chose not to leave Turin".

"I communicated the decision to José Angel Sanchez, general manager of Real Madrid,” the prosecutor recalled again. I know Florentino Perez and when he calls me I answer directly to him, forò if I have to talk to Real Madrid I go through Sanchez, è a matter of respecting roles. Real Madrid è a great club also because of that, they have impeccable professionals".

"Impossible not to accept Allegri"

‘s motives.

"Coaching in Madrid was a dream for Allegri and I must say that for me, too, it would have been a great satisfaction,” Branchini further added. “The reasons that led him to take a step back, forò are so human and serious that it would have been impossible, on my part and the club’s part, not to accept them".

Then, in the summer of 2021, there was Allegri's return to Juventus, and the current one è the third season of his adventure-bis at the Bianconero club. An experience in which he has so far failed to replicate the successes of the 2014-2019 period: in those years, with Allegri on the bench, Juve won five consecutive league titles, four Italian Cups and three Italian Super Cups. Two Champions finals as well, lost, to Barcelona in 2015 and Real Madrid two years later.
