Miami, not just Jannik Sinner: the Italians’ program
Jannik Sinner, the program
A binge of great tennis is scheduled for Sunday in Miami è after two days marked heavily by rain. Due to delays caused by bad weather, several second-round matches in the men’s tournament have yet to be completed. Among them is the match between Lorenzo Musetti and Roman Safiullin, which will open the day on Court 1 at 4 p.m. Italian time. Musetti could face Ben Shelton in the third round, with Shelton also playing on the Grandstand at 4 p.m. against Martin Landaluce, a Spanish wildcard.
Italy will be well represented in several scheduled matches. There'è great anticipation for Jannik Sinner, who beat Andrea Vavassori in the second round and will clash with Tallon Griekspoor. Sinner has beaten Griekspoor three times in the past year (in Rotterdam 23, in the Davis Cup and in Rotterdam 24), never losing a set, Sinner’s match will be the third of the day on center, with the program starting at 5 p.m. with Gauff-Dodin followed by Rune-Marozsan, so Sinner is expected to play between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Italian.
Italy will also be featured on the other courts: in addition to Musetti, there will be Jasmine Paolini (who will play at 4:00 p.m. against Emma Navarro) and Matteo Arnaldi, who after defeating Alexander Bublik in two sets, will face Denis Shapovalov, the third match on court 1 (the same as Musetti). Also not to be missed is the doubles program: on the third match on court 3 will be the challenge between Bolelli/Vavassori and Bopanna/Ebden, a repeat of the Australian Open final. While Errani and Paolini will face Watson and Mihalikova in the fourth match on court 7.
