Madrid: Carlos Alcaraz eliminated, passes Andrey Rublev in comeback

Carlos Alcaraz's adventure at the Madrid Masters 1000 ends in the quarterfinals. The Spaniard, in fact, è was defeated in a comeback by Russian Andrey Rublev with a score of 4-6 6-3 6-2, after more than two hours of play. The Iberian's defeat was affected by the well-known pain in his right arm.

After a somewhat faltering start, Alcaraz managed to be more incisive and in the fifth game managed to snatch his service, which he then handled skillfully until the end, closing the first partial with a score of 6-4. 

In the second set, the inertia shifts to the side of the Russian who manages to break his opponent already in the opening round. Rublev also manages to reduce the number of freebies and accomplice to a physical decline of the Spaniard he wins the second partial taking the contest to the third set.

In the third and decisive partial, Alcaraz’s physical difficulties become even more evident. Indeed, the world number eight breaks serve in the first and fifth games and then closes the match on 6-2. 

In the semifinals, Rublev will face the winner of the encounter between Taylor Fritz and Francisco Cerundolo.
