Italian Internationals: Aryna Sabalenka joins Iga Swiatek in the final

Aryna Sabalenka joins Iga Swiatek in the women’s final of the Internazionali d'Italia. The Belarusian managed to prevail over Danielle Collins in two sets, concluded in less than an hour and a half on a score of 7-5, 6-2. The U.S. player, after selling her skin dearly in the first set, fell apart in the second, allowing the No. 2 WTA ranking player to face the No. 1 in the final act of the tournament in Rome.

Very balanced first set, with Sabalenka putting the arrow in the fourth game by snatching her serve from her opponent. Good forò Collins to take it back on 3-4 with a counterbreak that makes the challenge very tense until a twelfth game that proves decisive. The favorite, in fact, seeks a further break that she takes home along with the set on the second attempt.

It gets much worse for Collins in the next set, opened by Sabalenka with a roundabout 3-0 lead. The U.S. takes a breather by holding the next two service turns, but nothing can't at the eighth game, which ends with a further break and victory for the Belarusian.

In the final it will then be a challenge at the highest level with Iga Swiatek, who had previously gotten the better of the other U.S. player, Coco Gauff (herself number 3 on the WTA circuit), with a score of 6-4, 6-3 in just over an hour and three quarters of play.
