In Imola’s first free practice Charles Leclerc makes Ferrari and its fans dream
The updates that Ferrari had planned to bring to Imola seem to be starting to pay off. Charles Leclerc è was in fact the fastest in the first livere practice session of the Gran Pemio del Made in Italy e dell’Emilia Romagna with a time of 1’16”990.
The Monegasque, who è was the’only one to go under the wall of’1’17” and who runs with a special helmet with the Italian flag, was 104 thousandths ahead of Britain’s George Russell in the Mercedes and 130 of the’other Ferrari, that of Carlos Sainz, who showed up in Imola with an unusual mustache.
Fourth at 243 thousandths was Mexican Sergio Perez, who was 7 miles ahead of his “team leader” in Red Bull, three-time world champion Max Verstappen, who was quite struggling with the car’s set-up. Also among those who made mistakes was Mercedes Briton and future Ferrarista Lewis Hamilton, seventh at 418 thousandths behind Racing Bull’s Japanese Yuki Tsunoda.
Eighth was McLaren Briton Lando Norris, triumphant in Miami ahead of his Australian teammate Oscar Piastri. Of course, the obligatory red flag could not be missed: Alexander Albon saw his Williams suddenly turn off at the’exit of the Mineral Waters double curve forcing him to park it in the grass and the session è was interrupted, fortunately for a few minutes.
