Jasmine Paolini trembles, but then goes through tie-break with Hailey Baptiste
The passage to the round comes, but not without a few too many headaches.
Jasmine Paolini è to the third round of Roland Garros, after a challenge with Hailey Baptiste turned out to be more complex than expected. The Italian won sì in two sets, but the American sold her skin very dearly. It ends in fact 6-4, 7-6(6), after a tie-break and almost two hours of match against the number 107 of the WTA circuit.
The match starts without any particular jolt, at least until the fifth game of the first set: è here that Baptiste breaks serve from Paolini taking the lead. The azure però responds immediately, taking the 3-3 and then centering a further and decisive break that is worth the 6-4.
The second set looks like a real walk in the park, but at the most beautiful it gets damn complicated: Jasmine Paolini concedes the first game to her opponent, then wins five in a row and seems ready to quickly close operations. Not è so;: Baptiste manages to come back even from 1-5 to 6-5 and even builds three set points. Here the Tuscan manages to fight back, and finds an unexpected break that extends the talk to the tie-break.
The final è throbbing and is played point by point. Indeed, neither rival is able to build a real break on her opponent, although Paolini finds herself up 3-1 and then 5-3. Baptiste in both cases managed to come back, but nothing could; on the final 8-6.
