Tour: Vauquelin wins in Bologna, Pogacar è already in yellow
Kevin Vauquelin conquers Bologna: the Frenchman from Arkéa-B&B Hotels won the second stage of the Tour de France between Cesenatico and the Emilia capital, 199.2 kilometers long, with a double climb to the shrine of Our Lady of St. Luke. The transalpine preceded one of his breakaway companions, Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X Mobility).
Immediately a spectacle among the ranking men: Tadej Pogacar won the yellow jersey by sprinting on the last climb. The Slovenian cyclist, winner of the last Giro d'Italia, è was the protagonist of a beautiful duel with his rival and last Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard, a Dane from Team Visma-Lease a Bike.
Pogacar è in yellow for sum of placings, but he has the same time as Evenepoel, Vingegaard and Carapaz in the overall standings.
Monday will be the last stage entirely in Italy, suitable for sprinters: 229 kilometers from Piacenza to Turin, with a tribute to Fausto Coppi. Then on June 2 it will already be time for the Galibier.
