MotoGp, Michele Masini speaks out on Marc Marquez’s fall
Marc Marquez è slipped in the final stages of the Austrian Sprint race
Definitely bitter Saturday for Gresini Racing in Austria: Alex Marquez è crashed in the early stages of the Sprint Race and finished in 20th place, his older brother Marc è instead slipped in the final and è was forced to retire. On the sidelines of the race, Gresini Racing Sports Director Michele Masini admitted the eight-time world champion's mistake to the microphones of 'Sky Sport'.
"We admit the pilot's mistake – explained Masini -, on a track like this you need 100% on every lap, just a smear to go down. Too bad not only for Marc, who was among the first, but also for Alex, who fell at the beginning. In any case, what happened this afternoon does not detract from the very solid weekend we are facing".
" I am convinced that we can play it with Bagnaia and Martin, at the moment the fastest riders on the track – added the sports director of the association founded by the late Fausto Gresini -. Tomorrow we will try again in the race, we want to fight for an important result".
Today’s retirement forces Marc Marquez to lose more points in the overall standings: Pecco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin, leaders on equal points, are now 71 points apart, while Enea Bastianini, fourth in the Austrian Sprint Race, now has a 19-point lead over the eight-time world champion.
