Paris 2024 Paralympics, Martina Caironi d'gold in the 100 meters

Martina Caironi won the gold medal in the 100 meters T63 at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. The Italian athlete finished the event in 14"16, ahead of Indonesia's Karisma Evi Tiarani (14"26) and Britain's Ndidikama Okoh (14"59), earning the highest step of the podium, improving on the silver she got in Tokyo 2021.

It ended with a double mockery, however, the test for Monica Graziana Contrafatto, who è was protagonist of a fall in the final caused by the loss of balance of compatriot Ambra Sabatini. To make the evening of the native of Gela even more bitter, the stopwatch took care of it, since despite the accident the blue athlete crossed the finish line on 14"60, seeing the possibility of winning the bronze medal fade by a single hundredth.

As many as seventy medals were collected by Italy in this Paralympic expedition to Paris, including 24 gold, 15 silver and 31 bronze medals.
