Almost a month after his defeat in the third round of the US Open, Flavio Cobolli è was forced to surrender again to Daniil Medvedev, world number 5, in the quarterfinals of the Beijing ATP 500. The Roman tennis player, in fact, è was defeated in two sets by the Russian (2-6 4-6) after almost an hour and a half of play.

Medvedev got off to a strong start immediately and broke Cobolli in the third game at the first useful opportunity (2-1). The Russian confirmed the lead by nullifying two counter-break balls (3-1) and repeated the break in the seventh game (5-2), closing the score on a 6-2 final.

In the second set, the Russian started even stronger, snatching the serve from the Blue in the opening game (1-0). Cobolli’s reaction forò è immediate: counter-break and overtaking (2-1). In the fifth game, however, the Roman lost his serve again (2-3) and Medvedev retained the break lead until the final 6-4.

Cobolli thus has to say goodbye to the 'China Open'. The azure will return to the court at the Shanghai Masters 1000 where he will make his debut with either 'Stan Wawrinka or Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
