Barcolana56: Allianz reconfirms partnership with Anemos II

The partnership between Allianz and Anemos II is confirmed again this year at Barcolana56. For no less than seven editions, in fact, Marco Bono’s Farr 80 has been wearing the Allianz colors, sponsor of the initiative wanted to allow the Group’s Trieste employees to participate as a team in the great sea festival and the Autumn Cup, scheduled in Trieste from October 6 to 13, 2024.  

New at the helm posts of Anemos II with two sailing champions such as Tommaso Chieffi and Mauro Pelaschier in the roles of tactician and helmsman of the 80-foot Farr Maxi One Design designed by Bruce Farr, which last year finished last year’s Barcolana with first place overall cruising category and third place overall.

Just under a hundred of the Company’s employees will take turns in the eight sea trips scheduled during the week, including five training sessions and three regattas.  

Maurizio Devescovi General Manager of Allianz S.p.A. emphasized: “Giving our employees in the Trieste office the opportunity to participate in this great celebration of the sea and experience incredible emotions during the Barcolana week alongside sailing champions is part of the many initiatives related to sports and well-being promoted by our Group, which has always been attentive to the wellbeing of its people”.

Over the course of the week, Anemos II will competeà in three regattas: on Oct. 6 for the Bernetti Trophy (53rd edition), an obligatory stop to fine-tune crews and means and study opponents closely. This is followed on Friday, Oct. 11 for the Barcolana Maxi–Trofeo Portopiccolo, a regatta reserved for boats over 16 meters in length. To close the week on a high note, on Sunday, October 13, the highlight of the great “festa del mare” with Barcolana56.

Tommaso Chieffi and Mauro Pelaschier have both made history in Italian sailing.

Mauro Pelaschier, born in 1949, è the iconic helmsman who has represented Italy at the Olympics, the America’s Cup and the World Tour. È was helmsman of Azzurra, the first Italian boat to participate in the America’s Cup in 1983, helping to make the sport known and loved by the general public. During his long and successful career he has raced cabin cruisers, one-designs and vintage boats, winning countless titles.

Tommaso Chieffi, born in 1961, has won 28 world titles and countless Italian and European titles in his career as a tactician. Tommaso Chieffi è landed in the Barcolana in 1992, the same year as the America’s Cup, only three months after the San Diego races, and on the Moro di Venezia he won the Trieste regatta. È one of the most successful sailors there are in Italy: Olympic classes, America’s Cup, one-design and offshore boats.

Anemos II Allianz will then move to Venice where on Saturday, October 19, it will participate in the XI° edition of Venice Hospitality Challenge 2023 Gran Premio Città of Venice; this is the only regatta in the world that takes place in the inland waters of a city, reserved for Maxi Yachts that compete in the’fascinating location of the San Marco basin.  

The regatta is part of the Maxi Yacht Adriatic Series, the first circuit of regattas dedicated to Maxi racing yachts (from 15.90 meters overall length) placed in the Adriatic area, of which Anemos II Allianz, last year è came first in the cruise category.

Anemos II è an 80-foot Farr Maxi One Design designed by Bruce Farr: è one of eight hulls and designed for an international circuit for a possible round-the-world voyage. The hull è made of composite, while the mast, boom and tangon are carbon. Also on board is the flag of One Ocean Foundation, the project of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda for environmental protection supported by Allianz.
