Masters 1000 Shanghai, Jannik Sinner wins in comeback and advances to round of 16

In the third round of the Masters 1000 on the Shanghai cement Jannik Sinner, world number 1, beat Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry, number 37, in a comeback with a score of 6-7 6-4 6-2.

The first break point has to be saved by Sinner on 3-3 in the first set, the South Tyrolean misses one in the next game and then also misses two consecutive set points on 6-5. It goes to the tie-brea in which Etcheverry operates the decisive stretch at 4-1 with double minibreak and wins 7-3.

From 2-2 in the second set the breaks flowed: there were three in a row, two in favor of Sinner who from 3-3 stretched to 5-3 and shortly afterwards extended the match by holding serve to zero. Already; in the first game of the third set Sinner has three consecutive break points, he does not exploit them, but materializes one on’1-1.

Jannik has two more beak balls on 3-1 in his favor, misses them and in a very long sixth game he has to save three of them. È the decisive moment becauseé Etcheverry soon after loses another serve and Sinner canò keep the serve and close the atch after two hours and 38 minutes of play. Now the world number 1 will face the winner between Spain’s Roberto Carballes Baena and Ben Shelton of the United States.
