Dream debut for Federica Brignone in Soelden, Mikaela Shiffrin off the podium
Federica Brignone triumphs in Soelden, Mikaela Shiffrin wastes it all in second run
The 2024-2025 season could not have started better than this for Federica Brignone. After finishing third in the first run, the skier from Valle d’Aosta raised the bar in the second by winning the first Giant of the year in Soelden with a time of 2'16"05.
Second place went to New Zealand's Alice Robinson, who lost all her lead in the flat and finished 17 hundredths behind the Italian. Austrian Julia Scheib closes the podium with a gap of over a second from the Milan native. Second run to forget, on the other hand, for Mikaela Shiffrin, who collapses in the second part of the race, finishing in fifth place at 1.21 from Federica Brignone.
Negative performance also for Marta Bassino who loses eight positions compared to the first run and finishes in 13th place. Only 20th, finally, Asja Zenere at 3.16 from her compatriot.
