The words of Carlos Alcaraz

Speaking at the media day ahead of his debut in the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000, Carlos Alcaraz, among other topics, wanted to comment in no uncertain terms on statements made by his friend-rival Jannik Sinner regarding the decision to participate in the Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia.

"If I said that I went to Riyad just to have fun or to play without thinking about money, I would be lying. It's obvious: everyone works for that too. It's how life works" began the Spanish tennis player.

"I love playing tennis and most of the time I don&#39t think about money. I play for love and fun. On that occasion, forò you also have to be realistic and think that you&#39re there to win money. In Saudi Arabia there'was the highest prize money in history, so it è was a good motivation, at least for me" continued the Murcian.

"I think I am ready for tomorrow’s match and I also think I will play great, I am full of confidence and excited to start this tournament. I have never played very well here, but this year I feel in a different condition: I know what I have to do and I have been doing a great job lately.I feel ready to do a good result or at least improve on what I got here last year" added the world number two.

"That I beat Jannik three times this year doesn&#39t matter. I may not have been able to play well in some tournaments. I have a good winning percentage, but Sinner’s è over 91 percent and there have been very few of able to get a similar statistic. He’s really playing at another level. Like all my colleagues, my goal è to get as far as I can in every tournament and that’s what I’m going to try to do next season as well. I will try to be more continuous and improve in those tournaments where I did not do well" concluded Carlos Alcaraz.
