Jannik Sinner, unexpected forfeit in Paris

No Paris-Bercy for Jannik Sinner: the world number one tennis player announced that he will be forced to forfeit for the last Masters 1000 of the year due to a nagging virus that has debilitated him. The Italian champion announced this the day before his debut match.

L'Azzurro had not practiced in the past few days and decided not to force: instead, Frenchman Arthur Cazaux will enter the main draw. Sinner evidently decided to save his strength for the last two major goals of the season, the ATP Finals and the Davis Cup. In this regard, the San Candido athlete did not è say he is not worried about his participation.

The Turin Finals will be played starting Sunday, Nov. 10, while the Davis Cup starts Nov. 21. The troubled relationship with the Paris-Bercy tournament continues: last season Sinner withdrew in the round of 16 after playing overnight the day before.

"Hi guys, this is Jannik. I am very disappointed to tell you that I will not be able to play this tournament. I arrived very early in Paris to prepare and then I got sick. Right now I have a virus, which will pass in the next two or three days. So, from the physical point of view, I am not ready to compete. I am very, very sorry. But see you next year and I hope it will be a great year even without me", his words on Instagram.
