In Merida, the break fair does not smile on Lucrezia Stefanini

WTA Merida: Sara Sorribes Tormo-Lucrezia Stefanini 6-4 1-6 6-4

Lucrezia Stefanini's adventure at the WTA 250 in Merida ends in the round of 16. The Italian tennis player, in fact, è was defeated by the Spanish Sara Sorribes Tormo with the score of 6-4 1-6 6-4, after a real fair of breaks (18 out of 27 total games) that lasted three and a half hours.

The first set è featured as many as seven breaks out of ten total games. What made the difference è was the Spaniard, who è managed to hold the serve in the sixth game and repeat in the tenth, also winning the partial set 6-4, after nullifying no less than four balls of the possible 5-5.

In the second set Stefanini managed to run away at 5-1 thanks to an extraordinary show of strength, winning all games on advantages. On the strength of the large lead, it was only a formality for the blue è closing the partial set on 6-1.

The break fair resumed in the third set as well, as there were no less than seven times when the two players lost their turn at bat. The partial starts in the best way for the Tuscan player, who immediately snatches her serve in the opening set. Sorribes Tormo, however, did not give up and first recovered ground, then thanks to a partial three consecutive games in the final phase of the set, she won the match 6-4.
