Clostebol-Jannik Sinner: John McEnroe takes sides

Tennis legend John McEnroe has taken a stand on Jannik Sinner and the Clostebol case. In an interview on Andy Roddick’s podcast, the former U.S. champion decided to openly side with the Blue, and to believe in him and his innocence.

"I am on the side of those who are willing to accept his explanation. My attitude è is to believe the player. I want to believe the player", McEnroe explained.

"At the U.S. Open they explained clearly to us that in him there’was a “millionth of something”, I don’t know exactly but it really seems like nothing. I just hope that this fact is something that does not create serious problems for our sport", said the American.

Sinner, cleared by the ITIA, faces disqualification after WADA appealed to TAS. The ruling will come after the upcoming Australian Open: he risks a one- to two-year stop.
