There are seven summoned for the women’s giant slalom in Semmering (Aut), the third World Cup seasonal event between the wide gates after Soelden and Killington that will be held on Saturday, December 28 (first run at 10 a.m., second at 1 p.m., live TV on RaiSport and Eurosport).
They are Marta Bassino, Federica Brignone, Roberta Melesi, Aja Zenere, Elisa Platino, Ilaria Ghisalberti, Giorgia Collomb and Lara Della Mea.
The following day, Sunday, Dec. 29, there will be a slalom instead (first run at 10 a.m., second at 1 p.m.) with the same Collomb and Della Mea, as well as Marta Rossetti, Martina Peterlini, Lucrezia Lorenzi and Vera Tschurtschenthaler.
The record on the Austrian slope speaks of two victories (Deborah Compagnoni in slalom in 1996 and Karen Puzter in giant in 1997), two second places (Compagnoni again in slalom in 1996 and Manuela Moelgg in giant in 2008) and five third places (Denise Karbon in giant in 2002, Nicole Gius in slalom in 2002, Moelgg in giant in 2016 and twice Marta Bassino in 2022).
