Anna Kalinskaya in tears: the numbers speak for themselves

Anna Kalinskaya è withdrew with tears in her eyes from the WTA tournament in Singapore, which saw her number one seed for the first time in her career. The Muscovite tennis player was playing her semifinal match against U.S. Ann Li and è stopped at the beginning of the second set, after losing the first. 

Kalinskaya è seemed very upset after a forgettable start to 2025: three weeks ago she felt ill in Adelaide in her match against Belinda Bencic, and at the Australian Open she withdrew before even taking the court.

The Russian è already at 20 career withdrawal defeats–a number indicative of the numerous physical troubles that have dogged her in recent years. In Australia Kaliskaya had experienced back problems but also dizziness, while in Singapore what stopped her è was a right thigh trouble.

No sign at the moment from Jannik Sinner, who was spotted smiling skiing on the slopes of Plan de Corones: the Blue is enjoying a period of relaxation after the Australian Open.
