Valencia, there is a Ferrari in front but Valentino Rossi does not give up
Qualification close to the top 10 and ambitions unchanged.
Valentino Rossi will start 12th in Race 1 of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe. That was the result of qualifying held Saturday in Valencia at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, which hosts the final Sprint Cup event of the season.
‘The Doctor’ stopped the stopwatches on a time of 1:31.045, remitting a gap of +0.578 from the pole position of Ulysse De Pauw, obtained at the wheel of the AF Corse Ferrari. Alongside the Belgian from the Cavallino, in second position, is Charles Weerts, who pilots the same Audi R8 LMS evo II GT3 from Team WRT at the disposal of Valentino Rossi. Next, also in Audi, are Simon Gachet and Pieter Schothorst.
“Valencia is of course a track I know very well, I have raced many times in motorcycles, and I did my first test here with Team WRT and Audi last year. The last Sprint Race went well in Misano, we finished fifth, so we will try to do better here. It will be important to have a good feeling with the car, and we’ll be competitive,” Valentino Rossi, whose goal remains a podium finish in the GT championship, had explained on Friday.
