Thiago Motta’s new Bologna slams into the woodwork: Empoli wins
Bologna-Empoli 0-1
Debut with a home defeat, for Thiago Motta, on the bench of Bologna: to conquer the field of the red and blue is in fact Empoli, which wins 1-0 and thus celebrates the first success of the season.
Deciding the challenge at the Dall’Ara was the goal scored by Filippo Bandinelli in the 75th minute: the 1995 class player was quick to take advantage of an imperfect rebound by Skorupski on a ball put towards the center by Henderson, and literally deposited the ball into an empty goal, putting Paolo Zanetti’s men ahead.
Bologna also has several chances to tie the match, but is not unlucky: three minutes after the conceded goal, in fact, Arnautovic hits the post with a header after an empty exit by Vicario, while in the 91st minute it is Zirkzee who comes close to 1-1, with a conclusion that hits the crossbar.
In the standings, then, Empoli tries to get out of the hot zone by going to 7 points, while Bologna remains at 6 and breaks a positive streak made up of two draws and a win.
