Roma just needs Soulé: beat Empoli

Claudio Ranieri’s Roma doesn’t stop anymore. At the Castellani, in fact, the Giallorossi only needed a goal from Soulé after not even a minute of play to break down Empoli and give themselves their fifth win in a row in Serie A, sixth in total considering Thursday’s success in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 against Athletic Bilbao.

Barely 22 seconds of play passed and Roma è already took the lead: a bad mistake by Colombo in the setting, Shomurodov retrieved the ball and served on the left flank Salah-Eddine who put in the center for Soulé who netted Silvestri. Empoli responded with De Sciglio but Svilar saved for a corner. On 22' Pellegrini sends a moving penalty just wide, on 36' Shomurodov smashes the crossbar with a very violent shot from inside the area, three minutes later Kone hits the post.

In the resumption Pellegrini again dangerous at 62' with a nice header rejected by Silvestri, three minutes later Paredes tried on a free kick but his attempt è just high. The Tuscans failed to make themselves dangerous, while the Giallorossi twice more came close to doubling the score through Baldanzi and Dovbyk. In the final thrill for Roma with a header by Kouame out just wide.

Thanks to this victory, Roma climbs to seventh place on 46 points, -4 from Bologna, sixth, while Empoli remains stuck at 22, in third last place.
