Patrizio Masini thanks Vieira but doesn’t forget Gilardino

Patrizio Masini, Genoa midfielder, gave an’interview to ‘TuttoMercatoWeb’ in which he explained the fundamental role that both Alberto Gilardino, his former coach, and Patrick Vieira, the current coach of the Grifone, played for him.
“Gilardino was very important also because it was he who decided to keep me – he began -. With him I made three appearances then with coach Vieira everything changed. To him I owe everything but also Gilardino, without him I would not be here”.
” Vieira brought serenity but also a lot of ideas – added the red and blue midfielder -. We are compact from the defensive point of view with a’high aggression. To me personally he is continuing to give me a lot of confidence that maybe even I would not have given myself. He is making me grow as a player and as a person”.
The French coach relies a lot on the youngsters: “I, Venturino, Ekhator but also during the week when the Primavera players arrive he holds them in high regard and gives them a lot of advice. I who went through it at the time think it’s a very important thing that as a kid you appreciate”.
“I have said since training camp that my reference points were Badelj and Frendrup. I take a lot of inspiration from Frendrup, Badelj then has a career that speaks for him. Even at the table we are often close and talk often. Then there is Malinovskyi, Thorsby. The strength of this team is the group. On and off the field we are very united” Masini concluded.
