Ballan identifies Ganna’s problem

Alessandro Ballan, the last Italian to win the World Road Cycling Championships, also spoke about Filippo Ganna in an interview granted to ‘La Stampa’.

“I expected him to be on the podium at the time trial: he has always excelled, I say it is a result below expectations. It was a complicated World Championship for him, more for a mental issue than a physical one. Because he disappointed at the Tour de France, he didn’t take the Yellow Jersey, and that weighed. Something is wrong.”

“He is a professional. Maybe he prepared more for the Hour record. But racing on the track is different than on the road. If he decided to try now (Oct. 8, ed.) and not postpone it means he is ready and convinced he can beat it.”
