Cobolli surrenders to Fearnley at Atp 250 Eastbourne

Bitter debut for Flavio Cobolli at the ATP 250 in Eastbourne, where he was decisively defeated by Jacob Fearnley in the first direct confrontation between the two. The Italian surrendered with a heavy 6-2 6-2, never being able to really get into the match, also aided by an opponent in a day of grace. Fearnley showed extremely effective tennis on grass, with great attention in his shot selection, quickness in the exchanges and an impeccable serve, capable of constantly putting the Roman in trouble.
The key moment of the match came at 4-2 in the first set. Fearnley strung together a string of six consecutive games that effectively ended the match. Despite a timid attempt by Cobolli to react, with a break in the sixth game of the first partial, the Italian was never able to find continuity either on serve or in response. Fearnley, on the other hand, handled the pitfalls of the Eastbourne grass court as well as he could.
Cobolli also struggled mentally, getting carried away by his opponent’s superiority without being able to find an emotional or technical breakthrough. Now for Cobolli, the focus is all on the big date in Wimbledon, where he will be seeded.
