US Open: Carlos Alcaraz to quarterfinals without breaking a sweat

Carlos Alcaraz advances to the quarterfinals of the US Open. Mission accomplished for the Spaniard, who disposed of Arthur Rinderknech without too much trouble beating him in three sets. The Frenchman succumbed in about two and a quarter hours of play with a score of 7-6(3), 6-3, 6-4, while in the next round the Iberian star will face Jiri Lehecka.
The first set is extremely balanced, so much so that neither Alcaraz nor Rinderknech manages not only to score, but even to procure a single break ball. It then comes without any particular jolt to the tie-break, which initially smiles on the Frenchman, who, however, then surrenders as many as 6 points in a row to the No. 2 in the ATP rankings, unable to recover.
Much easier was Alcaraz’s task in the next set, which, however, followed the thread of the first until 3-2. In the sixth game came the first two break points, with the Spaniard snatching service from his opponent on the second attempt. Rinderknech builds up as many in the next game, but it is not enough.
Alcaraz is in no hurry in the third set either, the course of which is linear until 4-4. The ninth game is that of the decisive break, again hit on the second attempt and which the Spaniard can afford to control until the final 6-4. Now Lehecka, before a possible semifinal with Novak Djokovic.
