Antoine Griezmann rewrites the history of'Atletico Madrid

By scoring in the 46th minute of the first half of Atletico Madrid-Eintracht Frankfurt, Antoine Griezmann updated a record that makes him an ever more absolute protagonist in the history of the Colchoneros: in fact, the one scored on Tuesday night is goal number 200 of the ‘Petit Diable’ with the red and white jersey of Atletico, a milestone reached for the first time ever.
In the all-time scorers list, Griezmann precedes Luis Aragones, 159 goals between 1964 and 1974, and Adrian Escudero, who scored 153 between 1945 and 1958. Also in triple digits are José Eulogio Garate (127 between 1966 and 1977), Paco Campos (123 between 1939 and 1948), Joaquin Peiró (114 between 1955 and 1962, before his long spell in Italy between Torino, Inter and Roma), Sergio Aguero (101 between 2006 and 2011) and Adelardo (100 between 1959 and 1976).
Griezmann’s goals are the most ever scored by a teammate of his.
Griezmann celebrated his 200th goal in the Atletico Madrid jersey with a celebratory shirt, which was handed to him on the sidelines and which he proudly displayed in front of the Metropolitano crowd. The Frenchman further confirmed the link with the club, with which he played from 2014 to 2019 and from 2021 onward, after a spell at Barcelona.
In the all-time list of Atletico goal scorers also entered, with his very first goal as a Colchonero, Giacomo Raspadori: the former Napoli man in fact put Atletico Madrid ahead against Eintracht, on 4′. The Italian with the most goals in the red and white team is Christian Vieri, who scored 29 times in his only season in the Spanish capital (1997-1998).
