Christian Horner in Ferrari instead of Vasseur? There are those who are convinced.

Ferrari confirmed Frederic Vasseur in the role of team principal, much to the positive reaction of both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. However, his position seems likely to be challenged again by Christian Horner&#8217s final disengagement from Red Bull. The latter&#8217s presence on the “market” of Formula 1 executives seems likely to tickle the Cavallino&#8221s fancy, at least that is what the German press is convinced of.

The German press is convinced of this.

In Germany, in fact, the highly respected publication ‘F1-Insider’ is talking about a’hypothetical dialogue between Horner and John Elkann himself. The latter may be tempted by the possibility of putting under contract the man who from 2010 to the present accompanied first Sebastian Vettel and then Max Verstappen in winning eight consecutive world championships during the same period in which Ferrari remained dry. The Englishman himself, however, may not say no to Maranello unlike Adrian Newey on the design front.

The general impression is indeed that of a Horner eager to get back to work in the Formula 1 paddocks and at the trackside walls after his turbulent farewell to Red Bull. His profile was and remains high, however, making it complex to restart from a mid-grid stable or with ambitions all to be verified. Opposite discourse, however, for Ferrari, which has been chasing the world dream for nearly two decades now.

The German newspaper adds from this point of view that John Elkann would have no problem in’offering a contract to the man who has been a quintessential Ferrari opponent for more than a decade. D’on the other hand, despite the recent contract renewal, this season&#8217s disappointing results would not make Vasseur&#8217s position solid. The real problem would then become the never-ending prospect of bringing Max Verstappen to Maranello as well, in the more or less distant future. Indeed, relations between the Dutch driver and his former team principal, as is well known, are decidedly strained.
