Charles Leclerc worries Ferrari fans despite the news

The Ferrari that will take to the track in Miami will come with a major package of aerodynamic upgrades, the result of the long development work carried out by the Maranello team throughout April. “It will be very interesting to see where we are with the new developments,” explained Charles Leclerc from Miami, “because almost all the teams will bring major upgrades and it will be like seeing real new cars in some cases, and that could change some balances.”
Ferrari occupies second place behind Mercedes and ahead of McLaren, but the margins remain razor-thin. “Norris and Piastri were very close to us in the last race weekend,” added the Monegasque, “so an update could affect a lot. As for Mercedes, on the other hand, it will be difficult, considering the advantage they were starting from.”
On the sporting front, on the other hand, at Ferrari’s home there is no particular concern about the changes introduced by the FIA on qualifying and racing, designed to meet the demands that emerged in the first GPs with the new regulations. “We are going in the right direction without having overreactions,” explained Leclerc. “The change to the starts for example will not affect our ‘advantage’ at the start and the excellent starts we have had so far, it will only be an aid for those who will start very badly in order not to create dangerous car stalling situations.”
The Federation’s work has therefore convinced the Ferrari driver, who looks forward to the continuation of the season with confidence. “I felt listened to as a driver in the requests and advice we gave. Normally we drivers are programmed to look only at performance, but this time we put that aside to make these cars look like real Formula 1 cars again, especially in qualifying where we were most critical. There were software filters, weird behaviors where if you went flat out and then lifted your foot something different happened than what you wanted. Now it has been fixed and we can get back to driving by instinct, although obviously there will be more work to be done over the course of the season.”
