Fabio Grosso makes no secret of his disappointment

The goal number 150 in Serie A by Domenico Berardi was not enough for Sassuolo on Monday night: in fact, the neroverde team was defeated at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia by Genoa, which at the debut of the Roberto Murgita-Mimmo Criscito duo on the bench won its first success in this championship, thanks to Ostigard’s goal that was worth 2-1 at 93′;
.
A goal, that of the Norwegian, which did not go already to Fabio Grosso, coach of Sassuolo: “So many little things happen in a match that can also turn into great ingenuities – said the 2006 world champion -. After we had resumed the match we sinned in superficiality and in a league like this you get punished at every slight”.
“We played a better second half than the first – Grosso continued – but in the final we conceded that penalty from a defiladed position and we were punished. We have to work on this aspect, to reach a high level of play we have to correct this kind of superficiality. Congratulations anyway to Genoa, this is a lesson we will need”.
Saxuolo therefore fails to achieve an encore after Friday’s success at home to Cagliari. Today’s is also the second consecutive defeat at the Mapei Stadium, after the one against Roma (0-1) last October 26. The last success on the field that hosts the neroverdi’s home matches is dated Sept. 28, 3-1 against Udinese.
