WTA Finals, Jasmine Paolini defeated and eliminated

Second loss in two matches for Jasmine Paolini at the ongoing WTA Finals in Riyadh. After losing in her debut to world number one Aryna Sabalenka, the Tuscan tennis player was also outlasted in two sets by the U.S. player Coco Gauff and has to say goodbye to her chance of qualifying for the semifinals of the last tournament of the year.
The Blue, certainly not at her best and struggling for several days with some flu symptoms, was defeated by Gauff with a score of 6-3, 6-2 in an hour and twenty minutes of play. In great difficulty on serve, Paolini committed 40 unforced errors in all and was hardly able to express her best tennis against a rival she has beaten several times before.
This defeat definitely cuts Paolini out of the race for the semifinals, but the Azzurra will still take the court on Thursday for the last match of the season against Jessica Pegula. On Wednesday Paolini will be on stage with friend Sara Errani for the doubles tournament: the goal is to qualify for the semifinals.
