Inter market: how many senators with expiring contracts in June 2026

There are a lot of Inter’s senators who are on contract expiration. We are talking about players who have made the (recent) history of the Nerazzurri team, namely the likes of Mkhitaryan, Acerbi, de Vrij, Darmian and Sommer.

Five names of great depth but also with an age that is no longer green. Mkhitaryan, on January 21, will be 37 years old. Acerbi, next February 10, will blow out 38 candles. In the same month, exactly on Feb. 5, de Vrij will celebrate 34 springs. Sommer, too, is no spring chicken: 37 years old next Dec. 17. Finally, on December 2, Darmian will be 36 years old.

Today&#8217s soccer features players with even older ages (think of 40-year-old Luka Modric wearing the AC Milan jersey) but it is clear that the five senators with expiring contracts with Inter cannot represent the future of the Nerazzurri club.

Mkhitaryan is torn between the idea of continuing to play (perhaps one more year at Inter) and retirement. Sommer already knows that his place will be taken by former Genoa goalkeeper Martinez. Acerbi is seeing his employment reduced. Darmian and de Vrij always respond when called upon but are no longer “first choices”. Clearly, their weight in the locker room is still relevant but there are other leaders ready to take their place. In short, for all five it could be the classic “the last dance”.
