Moise Kean puts Gennaro Gattuso in trouble: possible news for Italy'Italy

Italy in trepidation on the difficult road to the 2026 World Cup, and there is no shortage of new headaches for Gennaro Gattuso. Always on the lookout for a stable point of reference for the Azzurri’s attack, the national team coach risks losing Moise Kean ahead of the decisive challenges against Moldova and Norway. Reason why there could be news in his call-ups ahead of Thursday 13 and Sunday 16 November commitments.

Kean’s problems date back to the recent Conference League match against Mainz. There the Fiorentina striker suffered a left shin injury, which initially appeared recoverable. The condition of the Azzurri bomber (who has given Italy 4 goals in the last 3 2026 World Cup qualifying matches) has not improved, so much so that Paolo Vanoli has been forced to exclude him from the squad for the league match against Genoa.

The problem thus extends to Gattuso, who has little time to decide what to do. Certain of his absence in the double challenge in November, Italy could be enriched with a new striker to add to the list of men already summoned by the coach. Currently, the national team&#8217s forward department can count, for the matches against Moldova and Norway, on safe starter Mateo Retegui and a list of players consisting of Francesco Pio Esposito, Riccardo Orsolini, Matteo Politano, Giacomo Raspadori, Gianluca Scamacca and Mattia Zaccagni.

The absence of center-forwards stands out, except for a Scamacca who is still not in top condition. That&#8217s why Gattuso could consider the call-up in extremis of Roberto Piccoli, first alternative to Moise Kean also in Fiorentina. Another hypothesis leads to Lorenzo Lucca of Napoli, while adapted would be Nicolò Zaniolo who in any case appears to be clearly on the rise at Udinese. If one opts for an offensive player but not necessarily central, finally, the Nicolò Cambiaghi’option could become relevant again.
