Juventus market, turnover between the posts is possible but complicated

Juventus soccer club: Mattia Perin wore the Bianconeri jersey for the first time in 2018, but since then he has only been employed 34 times in Serie A by the various coaches who have since followed on the Old Lady’s bench. Indeed, over time he has been deputy to various Wojciech Szczesny, Gianluigi Buffon and, after a two-year loan spell at Genoa, Michele Di Gregorio as well. Despite this, however, a departure of his in January seems rather complicated.

Already in the summer, Bologna and Como were on his trail. Despite the ambitious plans of Lariani and the Felsinei (and the latter’s participation in the Europa League), however, concrete offers for Perin did not materialize. Now the “usual” Genoa is trying again, but Juventus seems unwilling to negotiate. There are two knots that, at the moment, block the’operation.

The first concerns the qualities of Perin, far more than just an alternative for Di Gregorio. The Latina-born extreme defender is, in fact, a true starter lent to a twelfth-man role for years. Juventus therefore does not intend to deprive itself of him unless faced with the possibility of replacing him with a colleague at least of the same level.

Clearly, Perin’s personal ambitions may lead him to want to play his starting chances elsewhere, perhaps in that very Genoa where he would experience the fourth interlude of his career. At Juventus, however, the 33-year-old goalkeeper is also held in high esteem by teammates and management, being considered a veteran of the group and a locker room reference point. The desire to deprive him, therefore, is not there, unless in the course of the coming weeks the scenarios can change. But they will also have to do so in the incoming.
