Billiards Italy was a great protagonist in Madrid, home of the World 5-pin cue championship. Both the men&#8217s and women&#8217s teams certified the enormous quality of the Italian movement.

In the men&#8217s team tournament, the Italian national team overcame Argentina (4-1) in the final, thus winning the title of World Champion 2025. The bronze medal went to representatives from Denmark and Uruguay. Wearing the blue were the giants of the discipline-Michelangelo Aniello, Santi Caratozzolo, Matteo Gualemi, Andrea Quarta and Andrea Ragonesi, masterfully led by CT Angelo Contrafatto.

The technical commissioner commented on the feat as follows: “The final was for strong hearts. At the final bars we felt 99.9 percent lost, but Aniello’s final shot turned everything upside down in an apotheosis. They have won so much in singles, but to win a team tournament in this way is the highest aspiration. To share a success like this with champions like them is the ultimate. A wonderful experience: close-knit group, harmony, cohesion, incomparable” professionalism.

In the Women’s World Championship, Italy pulled off another masterpiece thanks to the extraordinary Daniela Romiti, who was able to dominate the competition and win a much-deserved world gold. On the podium, in second place, was Denmark’s Marianne Mortensen, protagonist of an intense and hard-fought final. The third step was shared by Lucia Biondolillo, a splendid bronze medalist for Italy, and the other Danish Charlotte Koefoed, both authors of a tournament of the highest level. Also participating was another Italian, Milena Romano, who finished in 6th place.
