Not enough of Lara Gut-Behrami&#8217s certain absence and the unknowns related to Federica Brignone&#8217s possibility of participating in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, alpine skiing fans are anxious about another of the protagonists of the white circus, Corinne Suter. The Swiss athlete, a compatriot of Gut-Behrami, has in fact been injured in training, getting a muscle tear that jeopardizes her preparation for the Games, forcing her to be unable to wear skis for at least a month. Confirming the injury and the diagnosis was the Swiss federation on Thursday.

“Checks carried out in the Hirslanden Clinic in Zurich – explain the Swiss federal leadership – showed a muscle tear in the left calf, a contusion in the left knee joint and a non-displaced fracture in the right hindfoot area. Fortunately, none of these injuries required surgery. However, before they are healed enough to allow Corinne Suter to return to skiing, it will most likely take about a month”. Suter is the Olympic downhill title holder: her injury threatens to ruin her plans ahead of Milan-Cortina.

Drama for Lara Gut-Behrami, career at risk
Swiss skier suffered serious injury in training
The SuperG World Cup holder fell during a training session in the United States, at Copper Mountain

The Ticino champion got caught in one of the doors and fell badly
Low visibility would have been one of the causes of the fall
Lara Gut-Behrami suffered a concussion and a serious injury to her left knee
There is talk of a ruptured cruciate ligament and a meniscus injury
Lara will immediately return to Switzerland to undergo further examinations
At risk not only the season and the Winter Olympics…
… even the Swiss skier’s career would be in serious danger after the serious injury
Lara Gut-Behrami, who had announced retirement at the end of this season, could immediately anticipate her farewell to competitive racing
The Swiss federation in a note confirmed that initial examinations "showed an injury to the left knee"

Lara Gut-Behrami was born on April 27, 1991

She won three career Olympic medals

Should the prediction prove correct, Suter would have a month to regain his rhythm ahead of the Olympic Games. However, the diagnosis, unlike that of Lara Gut-Behrami, allows her to hope to recover in time to try for the Five Circles event. Suter, Gut-Behrami and Brignone are just a few of the names “in the pits” due to injury: Azzurre Marta Bassino and Alessia Guerinoni will not participate in their home Games, while among the athletes already certain to miss Milan-Cortina is American Lauren Macuga, who injured her anterior cruciate ligament during a training run between the slalom poles.

The Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be held from Feb. 6 to 22: as far as alpine skiing is concerned, the women&#8217s races will be held in Cortina d’Ampezzo on the Tofane slope, the men&#8217s in Bormio on the Stelvio slope.
