Hellas Verona gets unblocked, beats Atalanta and leaves last place

After six draws and seven defeats in the first thirteen league games, Hellas Verona erases the zero from the win column: the Gialloblù team beats Atalanta 3-1, thus abandoning the last place that, until the kick-off of the match at the Bentegodi, it shared with Fiorentina.

It is around the half-hour of the first half that the match finds its framing: on 28′, in fact, Belghali puts Hellas ahead by taking advantage in the most effective way of a Mosquera’s smarcante backheel to find himself in front of Carnesecchi and beat him with his left, while on 36′ it is Giovane who signs the doubling, with a shot from outside that finds the deflection of a defender and displaces the Nerazzurri goalkeeper.

Atalanta is not in the evening, Verona takes advantage and at 71′ closes the accounts: restart on the Belghali-Giovane axis, the ball arrives to Bernede who from the distance inflicts the third sorrow to the guests. Dea still tried to score: Scamacca’s crossbar at 77′ three minutes later a Bella-Kotchap hand in the box was punished with a penalty kick that the same Scamacca did not miss.

The remaining ten minutes, however, nor the next eight minutes of added time, were not enough to further change the scoreline: Hellas Verona won its first league game and reared its head again, moving up to 9 points, after the knockouts against Parma and Genoa, while Atalanta came to terms with its first loss after successes against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League, Fiorentina in the league (where it remains at 16, far from the top positions) and Genoa in the Coppa Italia.
