Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton’s deafening silence prompts discussion

For someone used to excelling, it is not easy to find himself, at the end of the season, with a fist in his hand and nothing more. Lewis Hamilton has just finished the most horrid year of his florid career. What was supposed to be the season of ultimate consecration has turned into a red-tinged nightmare: no GP wins, no podiums and only the paltry satisfaction of winning a Sprint (at the Chinese GP). His first year at Ferrari was, by far, the worst of his entire long adventure in Formula 1. Never had he been a mere bystander in his own world, a world he has long dominated.

As soon as the Abu Dhabi GP, the last round of the World Championship, ended, the seven-time World Champion lost track of himself. First, he warned everyone: “At the moment I just want to pull the plug, don’t talk to anyone. No one will be able to contact me this winter. I will not have my phone with me. I can’t wait to just think about resting, the phone will go in the trash. I can”t wait to get away from all this” his clear words addressed to everyone who knows him and, of course, to the Cavallino.

In fact, Lewis Hamilton is living up to his “promises”. Since the spotlight on the Formula 1 World Championship turned off, the Briton has literally disappeared from the radar. No sign of a presence on social media and, above all, no statement. All this deafening silence is generating various discussions. There are those who think he is even considering official retirement from racing. Tired of the’environment (“Every week photo shoots and everything. I can&#8217t wait for the day when I don”t have to do all that anymore), does Lewis Hamilton really want to throw in the towel?”

Practically impossible, indeed out of the question. The truth is that Lewis Hamilton is like a wounded lion. After such a bad year, he cannot wait to get aboard the new Ferrari and prove to everyone that he is not as boiled as many believe. However, to present himself at his best at the starting ribbons of the next season, he needs to recharge his batteries and, above all, get rid of all the negativity he has been carrying around for a whole year. Someone like Lewis Hamilton, capable of winning seven World Championships, is not the type to raise the white flag. He will be back but he needs Ferrari to deliver him a competitive single-seater. Total silence but fire burning inside.
