“Futebol Clube do Porto – the Lusitanians wrote in a note – scores a coup of immense international depth: Thiago Silva is officially a new defender for the ‘Dragões’. For the Brazilian central is a striking return to the city of ’Invicta, twenty’years after the 2004/05 season in which he wore the Porto B jersey. In this way, a perfect circle comes full circle: the star player returns to a home he already knows to win that first-team glory that escaped him early in his career. At 41, Thiago Silva lands in Portugal with a trophy case that counts 31 trophies. Among the most prestigious achievements are the Champions League (won right at do Dragão with Chelsea), the World Club Championship and national titles won with AC Milan, PSG and Chelsea”.

Porto then praised its newcomer, explaining the details of his new contract: “Despite his age, the numbers certify exceptional physical integrity. Coming off a top season at Fluminense with 46 appearances, the defender retains an impressive consistency: he has never gone below 34 games per season since 2006, peaking at 58 appearances in 2024 in the Chelsea-Brazil relay. The’operation was defined on the basis of a zero-parameter transfer, with no brokerage cost. Thiago Silva signed a deal valid until the end of the current season, with an’option for an additional year”.

Just Thursday his new farewell to Rio de Janeiro had become official. “Fluminense announces that defender Thiago Silva has formalized the termination of his contract with the club– the Rio de Janeiro club had written.

Hailing from the Tricolor’s youth academy, Thiago concludes his second experience with Fluminense’s professional team. A 2007 Copa do Brasil champion, the captain played 212 games and scored 19 goals with the Tricolor” jersey.

“Thiago Silva, who returned to the club last year as a world soccer legend, leaves a legacy of dedication and love for Fluminense. The club thanks the athlete for the dedication and professionalism he has shown throughout his career and wishes him great success in his new path” the note further reads.
