The African Cup of Nations 2025 gets underway: the first match is Morocco-Comoros, a match valid for the first day of Group A of the continental competition. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Prince Moulay Abdallah Stadium in Rabat, following the opening ceremony. The hosts, who are aiming to win the tournament, are placed in a group that also includes Mali and Zambia, and they want to get off to a strong start right away against the group&#8217s weakest opponent on paper.

Morocco will initially be unable to count on leader Hakimi, who was summoned but will sit on the bench due to an ankle problem. Despite the PSG star’s absence, CT Regragui’s team, which just won the Arab Cup, starts as clear favorites in front of their home crowd. Trident Brahim Diaz, En-Nesyri, Ben Seghir, in midfield will play El Aynaoui, Ounahi, El Khannouss, the full-backs will be Mazraoui and Masina.

The Comoros, a three-island archipelago off Madagascar with a total population of 800,000, is in its second participation in the Africa Cup of Nations (in 2021 they made it all the way to the round of 16). Italy&#8217s Stefano Cusin has been on the bench for two years: there&#8217s a desire for a feat but it will be a tough task for the Celacanti. In attack there&#8217s the Said-Selemani pair, in midfield M’Changama, Z. Youssouf, Bourhane.
