Algeria-Sudan is a match valid for the first day of Group E of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations 2025 in Morocco: the two teams take the field at 4 p.m. Equatorial Guinea and Burkina Faso are in the same group. Algeria has won the Africa Cup of Nations twice and is coached by Swiss coach Vladimir Petkovic, an old acquaintance of Serie A. In the last two editions, the Desert Foxes, already qualified for the 2026 World Cup, surprisingly exited in the first round and are eager to make up for it, so close to home and with a top-notch lineup.

Sudan, which has not won a game in the Africa Cup of Nations since 2012, is on paper the least competitive selection in Group E: its best player, Abdelrahman, plays for Saudi Arabia.

Algeria with Amoura as a central point supported by Mahrez and Bounedjah. In the midfield are Bennacer, Zerrouki, Bouadoui; the two full-backs are Atal and Ait-Nouri.

Abdelrahman forms Sudan’s offensive trident with Eisa and Hussein. In midfield is the trio Taifour, Khedr, Raouf. On the outsides there is space for Barglan and Khamis.
